Arman, born Armand Fernandez, was a French-born American artist known for transforming everyday objects into art. Initially using objects to create ink or paint traces, he later made the objects themselves the centerpiece of his work. Arman is best recognized for his "accumulations" and his technique of destructing and recomposing objects into new artistic forms.
